Why It’s Important to Focus on Giving

If business isn’t going as well as we want, then the following saying from “Three Feet From Gold” by Sharon L. Lechter and Greg S. Reid can be profitable:

“Focus on your people more than your profits.”

This is similar to the quote from Zig Ziglar:

“You can have everything you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want!”

Your business is about providing a resource or service to other people, so focus more on how you can serve your clients than the profits you’ll get from them.

Focus on Excellent Service

People can pick up when you’re thinking more about the money you’ll get from them than on providing them with a good service. In that case, why would they do business with you?

Focusing on others gets your attention away from what your customers can give to you. Start thinking about how you can provide an excellent service to your clients above and beyond what they expect. Once your customers see that you have their best interests at heart, they’ll come to you and no doubt refer you to others.

Is Your Business Stagnant? Turn it around…

Is your business stuck in a rut? You’re trying to get new clients, more products created but nothing seems to be working and it all feels stagnant. Then you may need a change of perspective. As it says in “Three Feet From Gold” by Sharon L. Lechter and Greg S. Reid:

“If you want something to change, then change the way you look at it.”

It’s like when we talk to a friend about a situation and they have different takes on it and so can give you different advice. We get so used to thinking the same way about things, that it seems there is no other way of looking at it.

Architecturally Magnificent or an Eye Sore!? What’s Your Perspective?

So if you’re trying the same marketing strategies or ways of meeting new clients and it’s not working, take a step back and see if you can do it differently, tweak it in some way, etc. Speak to other business owners, people who know about these things and get some advice. There may be another way to market and you just need someone to tell you about it.

Don’t lose heart if you’re business feels stuck. Just change your perspective and give it an injection of some new ideas and methods.

How You Can Be an Olympian

Sometimes to succeed in business, we don’t need great business ability or skills, we just need persistence! There’s a great story that Harrison Ford became successful because he decided to stick around and wait for the others around him to give up!

We think that we should have a successful business in a few months, a year, etc when in reality it can take years to create such a business. The Olympics in London have just finished yet the athletes are already thinking about Rio in 2016! They know it’s years away yet they’ll still be out there day after day, in all weathers training for that one day. Their mindset is one of persistence and endurance. Even on the day itself they don’t know whether or not they’ll get a medal, but they keep training because of the vision and goal they have to succeed.

It’s the same with your business. You started it for a reason, and hopefully you have a vision of how it will look when it’s successful. OK, you don’t have a specific day when it’ll be successful but keep the flame of that vision alive when things get tough. Create the mindset of persistence – you will keep going and take the actions needed to become successful.

The thing is, why not spend the next 5 years creating a successful business as opposed to giving up now because things aren’t going to plan. What are you going to do for the next 5 years after you’ve given up – go back to what you were doing. Then you know that there’s no way you’ll succeed. Wouldn’t it be better to keep on trying? You will get somewhere with persistence, it may take a while, but isn’t that better than just giving up?

Build The Trust

It’s important in your business to build trust with potential clients and to keep that trust with them in the future. Think about it, when you need some work doing on the house, or you want to find a nice hotel when on holiday what do you? Usually we ask our family and friends if they know a good plasterer, or plumber, we go on the internet to read reviews of hotels, restaurants etc.

Reflect Your Business

We want to know that whoever or whatever we use or go to is trusted to be good – it’s a natural human inclination, in effect we want to feel we are in safe hands.

It’s the same with your clients – they have to know they’re in capable hands and can trust you with their wants and needs. This is why testimonials and referrals are important, it’s simply a way to validate that you and your business can be trusted.

Think about what you can do to give your clients a good experience with you and your business. Build that trust – in effect, this is building your future income so go that extra mile and give your clients great service.

Why Multi Level Marketing Works

Are you looking for something different in life? Maybe you’ve been working for years and want a change or have decided that what you’re doing won’t actually let you earn what you need to buy a house, enjoy life on your terms, etc.

Many people get to the point where the 9-5 life gets too much. Trouble is most of the time we don’t see an alternative. Luckily, nowadays there is a way out, it’s just something we may not have thought of.

Help Each Other Succeed

Think about it, you have a salary and from that you can work out how much you’ll earn in a year, 5 years, 10 years etc. if you stick to the same sort of job and within a certain salary band. Will your current job let you earn £100,000 in a year, or a million?! There is a business model now where you can earn what you want, all you have to do is put in some effort and work to create it.

The new business social model is called multi-level marketing (MLM) or direct selling. The Wall Street journal ran a 40 page supplement article on the benefits of this business model in June 2011. With the Internet we can now run a global business from our house and easily find the people who want our products. No more pounding from door to door asking people if they’re interested in what we’re offering.

MLM works because we help each other and our teams succeed. It’s not about making money from other people in our team – we only succeed if we help our team succeed. Isn’t it better to earn a small percentage from the potentially hundreds of people in your team than rely on just your annual salary? It’s a great model since we leverage each others’ time and ability to create success for all of us.

That’s what I love about my business – as I help others succeed and become financially free, so I succeed. It’s great seeing the people in my team become more confident and successful as they build their business.

So if you’re at a crossroads in life, bored with work and doing the same old thing day after day, consider an MLM business. Ultimately you’re your own boss and each day is different. Best of all, you get to build a team consisting of people you like.

Why Should They Trust You?

It’s important in your business to build trust with potential clients and to keep that trust with them in the future. Think about it, when you need some work doing on the house, or you want to find a nice hotel when on holiday what do you? Usually we ask our family and friends if they know a good plasterer, plumber, we go on the internet to read reviews of hotels, restaurants etc.

Establish Trust

It’s the same with your clients – they have to know they’re in capable hands and can trust you with their wants and needs. This is why testimonials and referrals are important, it’s simply a way to validate that you and your business can be trusted.

Think about what you can do to give your clients a good experience with you and your business. Build that trust – in effect this is building your future income so go that extra mile and give your clients great service.

Create Your Ideal Client List

There are now 7 billion people on this planet. Chances are there are enough people who want the products/services you’re offering to make your business successful! It’s up to you to work out which of those 7 billion want to do  business with you.

For example, say you’re a butcher, is it worth trying to persuade a vegetarian to buy meat? That’s what some businesses do, they assume everyone will want what they have to offer and so waste time and energy marketing to anyone and everyone.

In the previous blog, I spoke about the 80/20 rule. If you’re marketing to people who aren’t your ideal clients, chances are those actions fall into the 80% of non-productive work. Find some time to really think about your products/services and the kind of people who will want them (your ideal clients) then go about targeting them.

Ideal Client?

Let’s say your offering beauty products – will it be for women/men or both? What sort of age range will like your products, how much will they be earning to be able to afford them? Where do those sorts of people go, what magazines do they read? Find out as much as possible about them.

With the internet, you can now advertise on a global level so you’re not restricted to your local area. Create a Facebook page for your products, a Pinterest board for images of your products – engage people who like and want your products. See if you can advertise locally at the places where your ideal clients hang out or go to promotions/fairs where you can display them.

It’s much better to get inside the mind of your ideal client and target your marketing to them. This way you spend your time and resources on speaking to the people who have what you want to offer.
